Talis Group has many ways to assist in your employment needs.
Among the hiring options, you may choose:
- Temporary Employment – A company will employ the services of one of Talis Group’s candidates for a period of time. The length of the assignment can vary greatly from one day to many weeks. The employer determines the length of time needed to complete the work. From the employer’s point of view, having a temporary is a great way to cover vacations, maternity leaves, special projects or help in times when work is piling up. From the employee’s perspective, it is a great way to work at some of the best companies in Kentuckiana, a way to get your name and abilities in front of hiring managers, earn income while looking for a job, or have the flexibility to work only the assignments you want to work.
Talis Group interviews, tests skills(if appropriate), reference checks and performs a criminal background screen on all temporary employees.
Please be WARY of any staffing company that tries to send you to a client as a CONTRACTOR. If you do not have a real business, pay business taxes, have an investment in your assets and several customers, you are usually NOT A CONTRACTOR. Less reputable staffing companies do this to save themselves employment taxes, unemployment and workers compensation insurance. You get stuck with paying estimated taxes, paying self employment taxes (15.3%) and possibly being on the hook for penalty and interest if you don't file business taxes.
-
Temporary to Hire Employment – This situation occurs when a company wants to have someone work for them through an agency for a stated period of time, usually 520 hours, before hiring them onto their payroll. During the 520 hours, the candidate is an employee of Talis Group. Usually if the work performance is very good, the candidate will be hired on at the end of the 520-hour probation period. See your Placement Specialist for details of positions that qualify for Temp-to Hire.
-
Permanent Placement (Direct Hire) - Oftentimes companies use the services of a staffing company to fill an open position. In this situation, if a candidate is hired, the candidate will immediately become an employee of the hiring company (and not an employee of Talis Group.) This situation is great for those candidates looking for a job while currently employed. These candidates usually aren’t willing to be a temporary employee for the probationary period. This situation is great for companies wanting to hire a person who is committed to their organization from day one. This hiring option usually has a 90- day unconditional guarantee to the employer. If a candidate doesn’t work out for any reason during that time, Talis Group will provide a suitable replacement.
-
Payrolling Services - If a hiring company has found a candidate on their own, but wishes to have the employee on the staffing company’s payroll, then the payrolling service option is important. Talis Group will hire and pay the employee and all related employment taxes. The employee will provide a service to the client. This situation works for a myriad of reasons but is used successfully during times of hiring freezes where the work must get done, but no employees can be added to the company’s payroll.
